Derrida's theory that meaning is created through the differences between things, nothing has its own pure meaning it can only have meaning in correspondence to something else, this can relate to sexual experiences where people have sex with each other in order to give themselves meaning in the differentiation between themselves and their partner, this can also be related to Freud's theories around the fetish, it is the distress of the difference to the opposite sex which creates a feeling of uncertainty about ones own pure meaning you no longer have meaning as a self you only have meaning as comparable to the other.
